Fred Vinson

fred-greenbayFred was selected in the second round with the 47th overall selection in the 1999 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. He played as a nickelback and had nineteen tackles and two interceptions. A year later he was traded to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for Ahman Green. In Seattle, Fred torn his ACL during training camp and missed the rest of the season. Nine months later he tore the same ACL again and was told by the current head coach, Mike Holmgren, that he would never play football again because of the 2nd injury. Fred was determined to get back on the field so he spent the next year training at the ESPN Wide World of Sports training facility in Orlando. In 2003, Fred signed with the Carolina Panthers with another shot in the NFL. Things went well until a different injury occurred toward the end of training camp. Fred retired in 2005 after 2 more years of playing Arena football.
